Fun for children these holidays

For some swashbuckling fun these school holidays a free performance of the highly energetic The Beginner’s Guide To Pirates will be held at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre on July 9.
Exclusive to the Wimmera, the touring show by Splash Theatre Company of South Australia is a tasty sea-story of jealousy, betrayal, sea-sickness and friendship.
Audiences will take a rollicking ride on the high seas with the motley pirate crew – Pirate Jemma, Black Jack Bones, Desp’rate Dan and the ghost of Billy Bones.
Aboard the good ship Ragamuffin they head for Barbados with disaster looming at every turn. In a head-on battle of will and wits they overcome greed, jealousy and body-odour in a desperate bid for survival.
APAC manager Rod McKenzie said The Beginner’s Guide To Pirates was a musical comedy with catchy pirate songs that will thrill the children – and parents too.
“Splash Theatre Company is known for its dynamic performances which excite and engage its audiences,” he said.
“’Pirates’ is family-friendly, high-energy theatre at its best. We look forward to our local families coming along to this free school holiday performance.”
There will be two performances at 11am and 1pm and will run for approximately 50 minutes each. Bookings are not required.
