Hawker a special guest at Elmhurst

CELEBRATIONS: Federal Member for Wannon David Hawker, president of Elmhurst Primary School council Terry Harrison and school principal Fran Edwards unveil the plaques acknowledging the Investing in Our Schools Project work that has been completed.

Federal Member for Wannon David Hawker was a guest at Elmhurst for their 140-year celebrations last week.
The celebrations were held to coincide with the completed works at the school under the Investing In Our Schools Project, where more than $100,000 worth of upgrades were completed.
“The Investing In Our Schools Program was all about school cmmunities working together to let the Australian Government know what they need,” Mr Hawker said during his opening speech.
“Students and staff at Elmhurst Primary School will greatly benefit from these new playground and building improvements, new carpet, and furnishings throughout the school.
“More recently the school was able to purchase musical instruments, air conditioning, play equipment, shade structures and I think you are currently also building a gazebo with Investing In Our Schools funds,” he said.
“You certainly have managed to get a lot of bang for your buck with these grants and I congratulate you for that.
“And of course these improvements will be enjoyed by generations of Elmhurst children to come.”
