Festival lives up to expectations

Neil and Cheryl Hardy

The second annual Horsham Country Music Festival has been a hit with Wimmera country music fans, with strong calls for the event to return for a third time in 2010. Organiser Lyall Wheaton said ticket sales were better than the inaugural event and feedback from patrons and artists had been positive but added it would be several months before a third festival could be confirmed for the city. Pictured, Connie Kis Anderson was one of the most popular performers during Saturday’s ACE Radio Country Music Spectacular at Horsham Soundshell; country music fans Neil and Cheryl Hardy of Horsham listed Shelly Westley and Rodney Vincent as their favourite performers of the festival; the merchandise stand was kept busy throughout the festival; Stephen R Cheney proved his worth as a headline act with a fantastic set; and a cheeky performance from soon-to-be-married singer Angela Hayden included a quick scan of the audience for “good lookin’ single fellas”, to the amusement of Shady Deal guitarist John Ferguson.
