The Ararat Harness Racing Club has received a major boost with several new sponsors and prize money increases for their October meetings. Ararat Harness Racing Club secretary Bill Allgood said a CO Pacing Series would be held on October 4 and a final on October 15, with new sponsorship from Stallion Station. Other feature events with prize money increases include the Karamea Farm sponsored Bacardi Lindy Trotters Series and a Spiller Family Sprint Series. Ninety-eight-year-old Albert Spiller and son Arthur, pictured, will sponsor the rich series which will have prize money increased to $6500, with a trophy and inscribed rug donated by the family. Mr Allgood was delighted with the news and said it was great for harness racing in the area. “These series, together with the sponsorship and extra prize money will add an increased level of interest to the October meetings,” he said.
