Artists celebrate at Nati Frinj Festival

GRAND OPENING: the Hay and Thespian Mardigras kicks off the Nati Frinj Festival.

From the vast palette of artists and inner-artists that exists within the town of Natimuk, the Nati Frinj is a vibrant community festival celebrating artistic endeavour of any colour, hue, shade or tone.
In its sixth year, the Nati Frinj is a biennial three day community arts extravaganza, inspired by its community and landscape, unique to the Wimmera.
Built on a philosophy of enabling artists to "do stuff", the Nati Frinj program draws on local and non-local artists of national and international calibre across many art forms – film, animation, performance, installation and more.
Kicking off the festival is the Hay and Thespian Mardi Gras Parade on Friday night – a wacky and eccentric street parade – more of the town are in it than watching it.
A highlight event of Nati Frinj will be the performance of LanTunda.
The Natimuk community rotunda will be cloaked in a fine veil transforming it into a giant lantern – shedding a warm and inviting light, encouraging the audience to come closer, to peek inside and share whispered stories by candle-light.
Three Natimuk based artists have engaged with their community to develop this beautiful atmospheric experience.
