Underdog Bombers

Skin of the teeth. A hair’s breadth. You can take your pick of clichés. One thing’s for certain – Noradjuha Quantong is lucky to be playing in Horsham District Football League finals.
But as many a wise footy sage has said in the past: it doesn’t matter how you get there, as long as you get there.
To the Bombers’ credit, they could have easily dropped the bundle and lost to Laharum last week. But instead, they maintained some control of their destiny and slipped into fifth place at the expense of Edenhope Aspley.
The result is that joint leaders Chris Hilet and Simon Dandy have an underdog group that could spoil a few parties in the next week or so.
Noradjuha Quantong ticks a few boxes when it comes to finals. It has plenty of experience in players such as Brent McIntyre and Rod Hogan, key players in form and also the frenetic speed required for adrenalin-fuelled games.
Lofty ruckman Adam Jolley has been in solid form for much of the year and Tom Cooper has consistently won club accolades. It’s also no surprise Stacey brothers Jayden and Ryan featured prominently last week and are part of a slick group also including Louise Papst, Jordan Huf and Corey Bull.
A big question mark hangs over Noradjuha Quantong’s ability to find enough goal-kickers to progress into the finals.
The team has a relatively even spread of utilities across the lines and doesn’t have the luxury of a match-winning forward and a direct avenue to goal.
This means the Bombers, perhaps more than any other team in the finals equation, need all guns firing to enjoy success. If they do fire on all cylinders, they are capable of a boilover.
