Ceramic exhibition at Gum San

Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre 10th anniversary celebrations in Ararat are continuing throughout April and May with an exhibition of contemporary Chinese ceramics on display at the centre.
The China Today exhibition will continue until May 7.
The exhibition made its debut in 1997 and has since toured the world, visiting countries such as Spain, United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Austria and Bulgaria.
The exhibition includes about 50 contemporary pieces from a wide range of distinctive styles and is in Australia part of China in Australia, a year-long event that celebrates Chinese culture in Australia.
Gum San co-ordinator Heather Ahpee said the selection featured an ‘amazing’ variety of ceramic pieces the Gum San Great Hall.
“We have some ultra-modern ceramic works, while others reflect Chinese traditions in ceramic art,” she said.
China’s Ministry of Culture commissioned the selection of pieces in the exhibition.
