West Wimmera Health Service has won its fourth consecutive gold medal at Australasian Reporting Awards
Health service chief executive John Smith said the awards recognised the highest standard of public reporting in the country.
“This is a tremendous achievement and one that everyone at West Wimmera Health Service can be proud of,” Mr Smith said.
“This is a prestigious award and recognises the fact we are fully accountable to our community and meeting the highest possible standards of public reporting.”
The awards, decided by the n

ot-for-profit ARA, are decided from hundreds of entries each year, including from Australia and New Zealand’s leading companies, not-for-profit organisations and government agencies.
Mr Smith and WWHS consultant report co-ordinator Dianne Hobday accepted the award at a presentation dinner in Melbourne.
The presentations were attended by senior executives from across Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Smith said the gold award

recognised the key objectives of the awards.
“It shows we are publishing an informative and factual report, providing effective communication of financial and business information, and creating public awareness of our performance,” he said.
WWHS has won 10 gold awards and two silver awards in the past 12 years.
Mr Smith said a key benefit of the report was that it detailed the services and quality of services provided in the west Wimmera, which had proved useful in attracting medical, nursing and allied health professionals.

The Australasian Reporting Awards were introduced 61

years ago as a means of improving accountability for, and public communication about, the activities of organisations.
