More than 15 leading Wimmera community and business representatives have joined forces to highlight the issues of homelessness.
They have accepted an invitation from Business Horsham and Horsham Rural City Council to take part in the overnight ‘On the Couch in the Park’ forum at May Park in Horsham next Wednesday night.
Horsham Salvation Army, Wimmera Uniting Care and Grampians Community Health are providing support for the event which will start between 7pm and 10pm.
Various professionals will talk about the statistics and impacts of homelessness in Horsham as people taking part, albeit with a few comforts, spend a winter’s night in the open.
After their presentations they will discuss ways of helping people experiencing homelessness in and around Horsham and announce strategies to tackle the problem after breakfast the following morning.
Organisers have welcomed the public to attend presentations through the evening and the 8am breakfast and strategy announcement.
