Nhill’s rockin’ role

More than 200 young fans were treated to a big night of rock music when top Australian band Stonefield shook the foundations of the town’s community centre on the weekend.
Stonefield played a powerful set that went down a treat but fellow all-girl band, the Horsham-based Lipstick Maffia pounded out a quality set that almost went unnoticed but for the hardcore fans.
The ‘iPod’ generation’s appreciation for a talented live rock band in their home town seemed to bounce off their Twitter glitter.
Nhill’s own rock trio Affro Dizzy Yak gained more attention and ripped out a great set.
But Stonefield held court and showed why it will grow into an OzRock giant. The band of sisters are from a Victorian town so small it would fit into Nhill’s main street, yet they are laden with talent and tenacity.

Wow what an interesting review Peter Miller, were you even at the gig ? I found your comments short sighted and not real encouraging as far as supporting local bands like us.
Lipstick Mafia are not an all girl band and we sure didn’t go unnoticed, I have the recording of our set on dvd if you would like to see it.
We kicked it and and played pretty good friday night and the crowd loved us, if you were there you would have noticed. If ya gonna do gig reviews get your facts straight mate,
