Plaza buoyed by summer trading

Consumer confidence and better-than-expected pre-Christmas trade has buoyed traders and management at Horsham Plaza.
Plaza manager Allison Roberts said the plaza had seemed ‘really’ busy and electronic door-traffic figures had confirmed the suspicion.
“Trade has been much busier than expected and, of course taking the Christmas rush into consideration, we’ve been surprised at the level on consumer confidence after quieter circumstances earlier in the year,” she said.
“People seem to have been keenly aware of sales and made the most of value-for-money offers.”
Mrs Roberts said she suspected confidence in the farming sector was having a rub-off effect on Horsham Plaza businesses and the regional business scene as a whole.
“What we are seeing is a lot of people coming into the centre from out of town, some travelling significant distances to do their shopping,” she said.
