Tylers Hardware of Rupanyup has again set the standard in Wimmera blood donation, winning a Hillross Blood Bank Challenge.
The business pipped 53 other businesses for the title with 224 donations at Horsham Blood Donor Centre throughout the year. The amount of blood represents the equivalent of what is needed to save the lives of 672 people.
The business will now donate the $500 in prizemoney to Dunmunkle Health Care Group.
Horsham firm Hillross has provided cash awards for the challenge since 2004. It also provided $300 for runner-up Dimboola Community Group, 111 donations, and $200 for Horsham Country Fire Authority, 107 donations.
Australian Red Cross Blood Service coordinator Antony Jose described the effort from Tylers Hardware and other businesses involved in the challenge as ‘phenomenal’.
