Appeal for fire victims

A Willaura-Lake Bolac community has launched an appeal to help a family that lost most of its possessions in a house fire earlier this month.
A fire, caused by an electrical fault, burnt down ‘Hell-A-Yula’, the Glenelg Highway family home of Leonard Ratima and Georgina Fischer and their five children Leonard Jnr 10, Daemon 8, Chantaye 7, Tamihana 6 and Ciahna 5, on January 18. The fire occurred 11 months after the couple’s eldest son Jahved died as the result of a tragic accident.
Appeal spokesman Gerard Morrisey the district community immediately formed an appeal committee and had already had an outstanding response.
“Many offers of help have already been made which is fantastic. The whole community can do something to help,” he said.
