Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Emergency Services David Southwick MLA has officially handed over the keys of a new fire-fighting vehicle to Elmhurst Fire Brigade.
Mr Southwick made the presentation at an awards dinner at Elmhurst Golf Club. The evening also featured the presentation of 50-year service medals to Doug Boatman and Michael Greene and a 45-year medal to Bob Greene.
The brigade acquired the $125,206 Nissan Patrol Ultra-Light vehicle through the State Government’s Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.
The brigade contributed $17,539 towards the purchase, helped by sales of Wimmera Hills Winery special edition ‘Fire Engine Red’ wine and a donation from The Sporting Shooters’ Association.
The 4WD Nissan Patrol vehicle uses diesel fuel and is licensed to carry two passengers. It will support the brigade’s 3.4D Hino Tanker with fire-fighting operations.
Country Fire Authority board member Michael Tudball, AFSM, presented awards to volunteers for their contributions.
