World’s best and dux guest speakers

WorldSkills gold medallist Tim Taylor and Victorian Vocational Student of the year Mathew Hill will be guest speakers at a National Skills Week celebration at Longerenong College today.

Taylor, an Ararat automotive mechanic fresh from winning his title in Germany, and Hill, 2012 Longerenong College dux from St Helen’s Plains, will join students at the college’s Engineering Centre for the event.

Vocational Education Training in Schools or VETiS engineering, building, construction and agricultural students will be involved in the celebrations.

Organisers expect more than 100 student participants and principals from Dimboola Memorial, Edenhope, Goroke P-12, Hopetoun P-12, Horsham, Kaniva, Murtoa, Nhill Rainbow, Warracknabeal and St Brigid’s colleges to attend.

National Skills Week is dedicated to raising the status of vocational learning, dispelling myths and showcasing the opportunities for both young and old.
