Festival provides racing alternative

For people who want to get as far away from horseracing as possible and still be in Victoria, the Nati Frinj Biennale is the place to be this weekend.

Immodestly billed as ‘the coolest art festival on the planet,’ Nati Frinj is rare among Australian regional art festivals because the major work created comes from within the town’s population of 500.

This includes many rock climbers and artists who have a reputation for making original and audacious art and this year will be no exception.

Nati Frinj has a high percentage of return visitors, many of whom are artists who come to make work in the town.

Founder and now marketing director Greg Pritchard said: “It is more like a party than a festival. There is so much to see and do that people end up running from one end of town to the other.

“As this year has a bicycle theme, I suggest you bring a bike to make this easier.”
