A countdown to the 52nd annual Wimmera Machinery Field Days at Longerenong has started with organisers inviting exhibitors to apply for sites at the three-day event.

The Field Days committee has launched its Exhibitors Prospectus and site application form for the March 4, 5 and 6 event next year with expectations the attraction will continue to grow.

Field Days manager Murray Wilson said organisers considered the  Exhibitors Prospectus one of their most important documents.

“It contains information and application forms for companies wanting to be a part of the Wimmera Machinery Field Days and is also a unique marketing tool and promotional publication for the entire Wimmera,” he said.

“We send out more than 1000 copies of the Field Days Prospectus throughout Australia and overseas.”

Mr Wilson said the launch represented the start of an annual ‘multi-million dollar economic boom’ for the region that attracted thousands of visitors.

“This makes it the region’s largest event, showcasing country Victoria, Horsham district and the Wimmera agricultural industry at its best,” he said.

“Each year the Field Days generate massive increases in turnover for local business through requests for goods and services. It is an economic success story with many businesses relying on the event as their most significant trading period.”

Mr Wilson said Horsham’s accommodation business struggled to cope with the demand, which meant patrons often stayed in centres across Wimmera.
