Christmas: A time to celebrate the giving

By DEAN LAWSON

Sometimes it is simply hard work to get into the festive spirit. In a mad rush to get everything done at work and at home in preparation for Christmas, many of us become tired, frustrated and grumpy and have well and truly had enough of it all even before the day arrives.

From securing that critical last-minute gift and ticking off the checklist to make sure no one has missed out, to making sure there are adequate supplies for celebration guests –  it can all seem a bit much.

But, we do it anyway, or at least most of us do.

It is important to remember that the act of giving is more than simply providing someone with a gift. It’s about the act itself.
