Field days focus

The Wimmera Machinery Field Days will be the focus of the agricultural industry next week, with site holders from across Australia and overseas.

The 52nd annual event, from Tuesday to Thursday at the Wimmera Events Centre at Longerenong, will have new site holders showcasing fertilizers, machinery, crop seeds, silo upgrades and dog training products.

Celebrity chef Janelle Bloom and former Ready Steady Cook host Peter Everett will feature in the auditorium, and team up with regional identities such as Horsham Mayor David Grimble, VFF vice-president David Jochinke and Laharum Grove owner Deirdre Baum in cooking challenges each day.

The field days provide plenty to see and do for the whole family, with free children’s activities, a boating and caravan display and more than 80 different stalls in the Country Lifestyle pavilion.

Field days manager Murray Wilson said there had been a strong demand for sites.

“Among our many improvements for this year are the introduction of new laneways, air-conditioning in pavilions, creation of more cool and shady rest areas, replacement of old and worn out structures and upgrading internal roads,” he said.
