Antwerp fire under investigation

Fire investigators are continuing to probe the cause of a fire that burnt 2700 hectares and sparked authorities to issue an emergency warning for Antwerp and Tarranyurk, north of Dimboola, on Friday.

More than 100 fire fighters tackled the fire, which started at 3.30pm, burning through paddocks of grass and stubble.

CFA Region 17 operations officer Ian Day said the fire was nine kilometres long.

“There was no asset or stock loss but a bit of fencing was damaged,” he said.

Mr Day said authorities issued an emergency warning for Antwerp and Tarranyurk.

“There were a couple of houses close to being impacted,” he said.
