Excitement with drilling results

PROMISING: Navarre Minerals geologist Brylie McAuley checks metal content of drill sample at the Eclipse prospect at Cherrypool.

Results of exploratory drilling and geophysical surveys in the southern Wimmera have fuelled confidence that an ancient volcanic corridor running through the region is home to significant deposits of readily accessible copper and gold.

Excited Navarre Minerals officials announced details to the Australian Stock Exchange this week and are now busily preparing to ‘aggressively’ follow up with another drilling program at the Eclipse prospect before winter.

The Eclipse prospect is west of the Henty Highway at Cherrypool, about 60 kilometres south of Horsham.

Managing director Geoff McDermott told the exchange, “We might have ‘cracked the code’ on what is controlling the shallow mineralisation found to date at Eclipse. Surveys have provided us with a potential pathway and source for the copper and gold mineralisation intersected in our recent drilling. The target looks big.”

If the next series of tests confirm predictions at the site it might ultimately lead to new open-cut or underground mine.

Mr McDermott said exploration was a game of confidence and Navarre Minerals was highly confident the next drilling program would produce more copper and gold results, leading to confirmation of a large deposit.
