Young leader

Laura Dixon returned to her former school Horsham College yesterday, where she was awarded a $45,000 scholarship from Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation. The foundation selected Laura as a 2014 Macpherson Smith Rural Scholar for her outstanding leadership qualities and contribution to the Horsham community. Laura, 18, is now studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University in Geelong. She is pictured with students from her former school at the presentation ceremony.

Wedged climber in overnight rescue

A man rescued after being wedged between two boulders at Mt Arapiles yesterday was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
