Horsham bowlers forced to wait after fire

Horsham district tenpin bowlers will be out of action for at least a fortnight while contractors repair a Horsham Lanes and Games building damaged by fire on Monday.

Business owner Wayne Watkins said he would let the public know when tenpin bowling was again available from the Jenkinson Avenue site.

He said laser tag, netball and other activities in an open-court stadium would cease until further notice.

Firefighters took about an hour to get a blaze at Horsham Lanes and Games building under control.

Country Fire Authority District 17 operations manager Dale Russell confirmed the fire, which started in a kitchen area at 11.30am, had caused substantial damage.
