Four Horsham enthusiasts will raise money for a fight against breast and prostate cancer when they take on the Murray River later this month.

Daryl Hill, Ken Easson, Glenn Margetts and Geoff Ough will join Murray Meander teams boating their way down a 735-kilometre stretch of the Murray from Brigenbrong Bridge to Echuca-Moama.

Called the Nood Nuts, the teams trek starts on February 20 and finishes on February 28.

Team spokesman Daryl Hill said the team was confident of reaching the minimum fundraising target of $4000 to be part of the ‘meander’.

He said the name Nood Nuts came from a planned head-shave at Horsham’s Royal Hotel next Tuesday.

“The highest bidders will get a chance to shave our heads and at the same time the Royal is presenting a ‘pot and parma’ night for $16. It should be fun,” he said.

Mr Hill said all team members had plenty of incentive to be involved, with family members who had been affected with either breast or prostate cancer.
