It was a week off for the vast majority of Mininera and District Football League while the league’s best travelled to Shepparton to take on the Kyabram and District League in Victorian Country Championships.

Although the day was not overly successful for the team, Penshurst’s William McGregor managed two goals to be the only multiple goal scorer, while better players named for the day were Thomas Taurau, Timothy McDougall, Justin Eales, William McGregor, Damian Cameron and Rhys Cronin.

This week however it will be business as usual as we move into round seven.

In this week’s games Moyston-Willaura takes on Caramut with both looking for a little bit of breathing space to hold their top-five positions.

Before the interleague break, both teams had a win, with Caramut defeating Ararat by 10 goals and Moyston-Willaura beating Glenthompson-Dunkeld.

Caramut’s Matthew Boyle was strong in front of goals with seven and Jakob Smit and Nathan Bramwell both performed well. They will look to continue that form this week.

Caramut however will have no easy task on their hands, especially for its backline which has the job of stopping Lachlan Hamilton and Aidan Bell, who have kicked 46 goals between them in the first six games.

James Dalkin, Matthew Scully and Rhys Cronin have all been among the better players and they will be keen to get another win on the board.
