Giant-killing Tigers on prowl

Round six of the Mallee Football League saw Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers defeat the Southern Mallee Giants by 39 points.

The Tigers held a 51-point lead at half time before the Giants hit back in the third quarter, reducing the margin to just 19 in the last term.

But the Tigers kicked the final three goals to win and maintain their spot on top of the ladder.

In the other game, Walpeup-Underbool produced its best performance of the year so far but was unable to beat a highly skilled Ouyen United side.

The Roos played a strong three quarters of footy before the Demons put down the foot in the last term to blow the final margin out to 51 points.

This week Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers take on Woomelang-Lascelles at Sea Lake. These two sides have had terrific battles over the past couple of seasons and this match is set to be no different with both sides possessing top class players.

Cliff Ryan and Tom Summerhayes always loom as dangerous players for the Tigers, while Jordan Doering has been the main man up forward this year and has kicked 15 in his past two games.

Capable Cats

The Cats have shown that they are a more than capable side so far this season and will need strong games from midfielders Trent Donnan, Jack Shannahan and Pierce Liddle to get themselves over the line against a well rounded Tigers outfit.
