Wimmera netball coaches search for an edge

Wimmera Netball Association A Grade coaches will be biting their nails, studying results and nursing any injuries as they search for the edge to consolidate preparations for their teams just four weeks out from finals.

Premierships certainly aren’t won at this time of year, but the competition for teams to finish in the top five is red-hot.

Warrack Eagles enjoyed perfect inside conditions at Coughlin Park, as they continued their challenge for that ultimate September prize with a convincing win over Horsham Saints.

A fired-up Dimboola jumped out of the blocks at home to consolidate an impressive victory over Stawell.

Minyip-Murtoa will face the ultimate test this week in what appears the start of a tough road home for the Burras.

There’s been plenty of talk all season about their exciting pre-season recruiting and a lot of compliments about the commitment of the team’s talented group on the track.

But now is the time for them to step into that next gear. This team has been building and is ready to challenge.

The Burras should not fear the experience, skill or the talent when Horsham Demons walk through the gates. It is far more exciting to welcome the opportunity because the Demons will be ready to play – they know they are the hunted.

The Demons’ consistent goaling duo Steph Thomson and Georgia Duncan will have a great battle at one end with the Burras’ classy defenders Stevie Bibby and Stef Cooper. This will happen while Minyip-Murtoa’s prolific shooter Kirby Knight looks to continue her accuracy over in-form Demons defender Katelyn Parry.
