Murtoa-Marma Racing Club will offer punters two sports for the price of one on Saturday as it combines its traditional cup meeting with the AFL grand final.
President David Delahunty said the club would show the grand final on a big screen in front of the grandstand.
“People will be able to watch the races and the footy at the same time,” he said.
“The weather is supposed to be magnificent – what more could you want?”
The Murtoa Cup traditionally marks the start of Spring Carnival in the Wimmera.
Mr Delahunty said he was pleased by the number of horses nominated for events on the eight-race card.
“It’s a bit hard to tell from nominations, but we always end up with good fields and I don’t see this year being any different,” he said.
“Our cup is at the perfect time of year because a lot of trainers are setting their horses for spring campaigns.”
