Drought loan help for Wimmera and Mallee farmers

Wimmera-Mallee farmers affected by drought can now apply for loans under a 2015–16 round of the Drought Concessional Loans scheme.
Federal Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce, in a joint statement with Member for Mallee Andrew Broad, said the scheme would help farmers struggling to manage through dry conditions.
They added that the scheme would also fund drought recovery and help with pre-planning for drought.
“Drought is one of the biggest challenges farmers face and I have seen first-hand the devastating impact it has on our communities,” Mr Broad said.
“The government has ensured $30 million will be available for Victorian farmers under the Drought Concessional Loans Scheme during 2015‑16.”
Mr Broad said he was pleased farmers in the Mallee electorate, if they needed to, could now access the loans.
