Wimmera sporting clubs receive Active Club Grants

Sports and recreation clubs throughout the region will receive grants as part of the first round of VicHealth’s 2015-16 Active Club Grants program.
Member for Lowan Emma Kealy said the grants aimed to increase or maintain participation in physical activity by funding equipment such as bats, portable goals, uniforms and balls.
The following clubs will receive grants of up to $3000:
Horsham Hockey Club, $1452; Kaniva Hockey Club, $2700; Natimuk Tennis Club, $720; Natimuk United Football Netball Club, $2699; Wimmera Kart Racing Club, $3000; Wimmera Roller Derby League, $2977.
“This funding is vital to help more Victorians reach the recommended 2.5 hours each week of moderate physical activity,” Ms Kealy said.
“Sport builds a sense of community, particularly in regional areas where it is one of the best ways for communities to come together.
