Wimmera Football League has certainly announced itself as a serious competitor within the country Victorian rankings with a 52-point win over Sunraysia in Mildura.
The emphatic victory was the Big W’s third in as many years.
Once seen as a hindrance to some players, interleague can only be looked upon as an absolute honour.
It is a privilege to play such a high grade of representative football, an opportunity so few can look back on and say they achieved when they hang up the boots.
The 2016 crop, led by playing coach John Delahunty, was never going to let this opportunity slip. This was evident before the first bounce even took place.
The passion and enthusiasm all 23 players displayed was nothing short of impressive and translated into the first goal of the match from skipper and best on ground recipient Nick Pekin.
