Horsham cricket: A Graders search for critical form

Horsham Cricket Association’s A Grade players will continue to search for critical early form with another series of one-day games at the weekend.
All eyes will be on Blackheath-Dimboola’s clash against Rupanyup-Minyip at Rupanyup after Blackheath-Dimboola scored a gripping win over Horsham Saints. The central Wimmera combine clipped 5-206 on its home turf at Dimboola before having the visitors 8-204 at stumps.
Opener Hamish Exell, who shared a 60-run stand with Tom Magee, 25, and then an 81-run partnership with Lachie Watts, 31, was the initial hero in the win.
A bowling attack, with Watts and Magee the most successful, and others including Elliot Braithwaite doing well, then managed to hold on to snare winning points.
Matt Combe, 78, and Justtin Combe, 43, in a 77-run opening stand, made sure the game went to the wire.
This Saturday, Blackheath-Dimboola will meet a Rupanyup-Minyip side that chalked up its second victory in a row by beating Laharum.
Rupanyup-Minyip, with Matt Downer, 67, Travis Hair, 48no, Adam Carter, 38no and Dan Clark, 31, getting runs, successfully defended 4-201 at Laharum by bowling the home side out for 113.
Dan Mibus provided the main opposition with the bat with an unbeaten 39 while Clinton Midgley and Glenn Morgan each collected three wickets.
Laharum will attempt to bounce back against Jung Tigers, again at Laharum, while Horsham Saints will also be searching for a win, against Homers at Coughlin Park.
Jung Tigers and Homers shared the points last week after a saturated Sunnyside oval outfield forced officials to abandon play.
Rupanyup-Minyip leads the competition from the Tigers and Homers after the first two rounds.
