A former Hopetoun man will fly over Hopetoun on Sunday as part of a
flyover of three F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft this Sunday, which former Hopetoun student Neville Moyle will be flying in as a systems operator.

The jets will do the flyover enroute to Avalon International Air Show at Avalon.

The Weapons Systems Officer attended Hopetoun Primary and Secondary Schools from 1990 to 2003.

“I want boys and girls from Hopetoun to look to the sky when we fly over and hopefully show them that growing up in a small rural town doesn’t stop you from having the best job in the world,” Flight Lieutenant Moyle said.

“I wanted to join the Air Force from a young age after being inspired by a C130 visit. I joined through Australian Defence Force Academy, became an ABM, deployed to Afghanistan and then again to the Middle East Area of Operations,” FLTLT Moyle said.

“I then re-rolled as a Systems Officer (back seater) on the Super Hornet,’’ he said.

FLTLT Moyle said his family ties remain strong as most members still live in the area.

The flyover will be between noon and 1pm on Sunday.
