Blue Ribbon Foundation’s Horsham branch has partnered with Wimmera and Horsham District football and netball leagues to present Blue Ribbon Round at the weekend.
Foundation president Geoff Lord said Blue Ribbon Round aimed to promote the organisation’s work, raise money and highlight the Spirit of Sport awards bestowed on under-17 football and netball players.
“Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham Branch raises money for equipment at Wimmera Health Care Group, predominantly in the emergency department, in the memory of fallen police officers,” he said.
“The committee is made up of hospital staff, Victoria Police members and passionate community members who are all volunteers.”
Mr Lord said the Spirit of Sport awards, presented to an under-17 footballer and netballer each week, celebrated leadership and sportsmanship along with skill. He said the branch hoped to make Blue Ribbon Round an annual fixture in the region.
