Former school principal Ben Donnelly is making his way through the Wimmera on foot during an epic journey to encourage people to support each other.

Mr Donnelly has embarked on a walk of more than 1500 kilometres, from Lake Eyre to Mount Kosciuszko, to raise awareness of anxiety and depression.

His ‘Walk For a Kinder World’ acknowledges the need for people to be kind to those around them and support them where possible.

Throughout his journey, Mr Donnelly is raising money for the ‘R U OK?’ charity.

He has encouraged people to check with friends, relatives and co-workers to make sure they are okay.
