CELEBRATION: Ainthatrightmacca powers to victory at Melton.

Ararat training-driving partners Michael Gadsden and Denbeigh Wade celebrated a well-deserved victory at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Friday night with ultra-consistent trotter Ainthatrightmacca.
The 10-year-old gelding overcame one of the toughest tasks in harness racing – barrier 11 over 1720 metres at Melton – to notch up his first metropolitan win and the 11th of his career and did it in fine fashion, courtesy of a dashing drive from Wade.
Ainthatrightmacca was previously trained by Daryl Crone at Ararat and during that time managed to post six wins and three minor placings from 43 starts, despite suffering from ongoing hoof problems.
“Macca was enjoying a long spell out in the paddock when the Crone family offered us the lease,” Gadsden said.
“He was to be a bit of a Monte – saddle-trot – project but things have gone a lot better than that since.”
Last season, Ainthatrightmacca advanced through the classes to capture the Terang Trotters Cup and was also placed in cups at Hamilton and Boort.
This preparation sees the veteran racing at the peak of his powers, with stunning victories against the pacers at Horsham and Ararat, an unlucky second placing at Melton then topping it all off with Friday’s success at harness headquarters.
Ainthatrightmacca has now raced on 26 occasions in the Gadsden-Wade silks for five wins, 10 minor placings and stakes of $41,531.
The humbly bred squaregaiter’s career record stands at 11 wins, 13 minors and $69,657 with a best winning mile rate of 1:58.3.
And the trotter’s unusual name?
“Sorry, I’ve meant to ask the Crone family several times about the story behind his name but keep forgetting to do so,” Gadsden said.
