Horsham schoolgirl Ella Officer, 10, has raised more than $4000 for children with cancer by cutting off her long locks.
Ella, who set out to raise $500 but finished with $4100 after eight weeks, said she was scared, nervous and excited in the lead-up to the event.
“I’m loving the new do and I thank all those who helped me smash my goal,” she said.
Her mother Rachael Todman said Ella was excited about what she had achieved.
“We had about 40 family and friends attend the ceremonial cut at Sassi in Horsham, with Kara Dingwall cutting Ella’s hair,” she said.
“There were plenty of happy tears in the room from Ella and from those watching on, it was such an emotional and proud moment for us all.
“More importantly, she has helped make a difference to kids suffering from cancer and illness.
“We are so very proud of Ella and her beautiful kind heart – she’s one in a million.”
Ella, a Ss Michael and John’s Primary School grade-five student donated her hair to Hair With Heart to be made into wigs for sick children.
