Horsham Sharks Swimming Club has appointed Alexandra Salter and Maddix Hughes as captains for the 2017-18 season.
The girls take over the role from Montanna Connelly and Jaclyn Clode.
Sharks publicity officer Helen Wills said Montanna and Jaclyn, both 15, had shown strong leadership as captains.
“They have shown sportsmanship and courage and supported new club swimmers to enjoy their swimming experience,” she said.
Coach Megan Hutchinson said it was a privilege to watch both girls grow within their sport.
“We know they will take what they have learnt through their season as captains into other areas of their lives,” she said.
“And we know the new captains will be a good pairing – Alexandra being quiet and diligent and Maddix with her great social skills and a cheeky smile.
“Both girls will be great role models to other club swimmers with their dedication and hard work towards their swimming and their kind, generous natures welcoming to new swimmers.
“We are excited about moving forward into the season of competition with them both at the helm of our swim team.”
The club has been busy, hosting its first swim meet for the season with 56 swimmers from Ararat, Horsham, Stawell and Warracknabeal competing, and a visit from Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club’s Brad Harris.
Harris is an ASCTA Silver Licence coach and coaches Paralympians Ahmed Kelly and Tanya Huebner.
“To have someone of Brad’s calibre available to swimmers and coaches was fantastic,” Mrs Wills said.
