Horsham and Murtoa residents and visitors will soon benefit from upgraded swimming pools.
The State Government has provided a $400,000 boost for the aquatic facilities.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford said Horsham Rural City council would use a $200,000 grant to replace the concrete hob surrounding the city’s 50-metre Olympic pool with a wet deck.
“This boost will go a long way towards helping cater for the growing number of people keen to get involved in swimming in the Wimmera,” she said.

Horsham Aquatic Centre's outdoor Olympic pool is at the centre of a new master plan.

Horsham Aquatic Centre’s outdoor Olympic pool will soon have a wet deck instead of a concrete hob.

Horsham mayor Pam Clarke thanked the minister for the money.
“It will make such a difference for the community,” she said.
“It’s all part of the master plan for the pool which will see one third of the outdoor pool under cover and a splash park installed.
“We have everything ready to go, we just have to organise contracts.”
A further $200,000 has been approved for Yarriambiack Shire to construct new change rooms at Murtoa Swimming Pool.
Ms Pulford said the upgrade would incorporate disabled toilet and shower facilities, an office, kiosk and first aid area.
“Grassroots sporting clubs and facilities like the Horsham and Murtoa pools are the lifeblood of our towns and they deserve modern, accessible and safe facilities,” she said.
“We’re working hard to give more people in places such as Horsham and Murtoa the opportunity to embrace a more active and healthy lifestyle at their pool.”
