A Dimboola Human Powered Vehicle Expo has consolidated its position as an annual event after generating significant community interest and attracting teams from across Victoria and South Australia.
Hindmarsh Shire Council tourism and economic development officer Jeff Woodward said the weekend event at Dimboola Recreation Reserve was a success.

He said plans were already underway for the event next year, where the hope was to attract even more participants.
“We set out to build it up and gain more exposure and we’re confident we achieved that,” he said.
“We basically wanted to build on what we started last year, and with a bit of help from the weather and all involved, we had a great event that can only continue to grow.
“With rain holding off until after the race finished, around 700 people enjoyed a day in the sun watching the action.”
Member for Lowan Emma Kealy waved the starting flag as 29 HPVs and Energy Efficient Vehicles started a six-hour demonstration race around a 1.2-kilometre course.
The event attracted 12 teams from across Victoria and South Australia and was significantly larger than an inaugural 2017 expo.
Mr Woodward said at least 10 extra vehicles and two new teams joined others returning for their second year.
“Onsite caterers were kept busy with a coffee vendor reporting they were five times busier than last year,” he said.
“Dimboola Town Committee also had a steady line-up for its barbecue throughout the day.”
Mr Woodward said Hindmarsh Shire Council thanked everyone involved in helping run the event and the Federal Government and Visit Victoria for providing financial support.
