Horsham College student Ella Walsgott has won selection to umpire under-12 School Sport Australia football championships in Canberra, starting on Saturday.
Walsgott, 15, she was excited to be the only Victorian, and the only female, representative on the umpire team.
“It means a lot to be selected,” she said.
“I’m not sure how many games I’ll be umpiring but I hope to do all three disciplines.
“I usually boundary umpire around here but I can central umpire too.”
Walsgott won selection for the second consecutive year after participating in a series of trial sessions and games.
She has been umpiring for three years.
Many past School Sport Victoria team members have gone on to compete at national and international competitions including Olympic and Commonwealth games and world championships.
The under-12 Australian rules championships run from August 11 to 18.
