Grampians shine at annual tourism awards

GOLD: Parks Victoria collected two awards at RACV Victorian Tourism Awards.

Grampians businesses and attractions have again performed strongly at RACV Victorian Tourism Awards.
Regular top performer, Dunkeld’s Royal Mail Hotel, led the way for the Grampians, winning two gold medals.
Other Grampians enterprises also enjoyed wins at Melboune’s Crown Casino, with Golton in the Gap, Autopia Tours, Auswalk and Parks Victoria also claiming gold.
Grampians Pioneer Cottages and Bunyip Tours won silver and Hemley House and Grampians Grape Escape were finalists.
The awards represent one of the biggest annual celebrations in Victorian tourism.
Grampians Tourism chief executive Marc Sleeman said the region had brought home ‘a bag of gold’.
“As strong supporters of the awards, the Grampians Tourism team was proud to see such a rich field of entrants from the Grampians region,” he said.
“It is a reflection of the strength and diversity in our local tourism industry.
“It was a fantastic night celebrating our state’s tourism excellence, innovation, professionalism and collaboration and our partners did us proud.
“The Grampians tourism industry continues to grow and develop and these annual awards are critical in the Grampians’ evolution as an iconic tourism destination.”
Grampians Tourism industry tourism awards entrants, finalists and winners were:
Gold: Royal Mail Hotel, deluxe accommodation and tourism, restaurants and catering services; Golton in the Gap, self contained accommodation; Autopia Tours, tour and transport operators; Auswalk, adventure tourism; Parks Victoria, specialised tourism services, outstanding contribution by volunteers.
Silver: Grampians Pioneer Cottages,
unique accommodation; Bunyip Tours,
major tour and transport operators.
Finalists: Hemley House, self contained accommodation; Grampians Grape Escape, festivals and events.
Entrant: Eerie Tours.
