Wimmera comet viewing

The wide expanses of the Wimmera will provide amateur astronomers with a front-row seat to the brightest comet to appear in the night sky this year.
The ‘Christmas comet’, officially called 46P/Wirtanen, will make its closest approach to earth late at night on Sunday.
The comet, in the north-east sky, is clearly visible with binoculars and will be at its brightest between Friday and Tuesday.
Early on Saturday morning, people will also be able to see the Geminid meteor shower at its peak.
