‘Nina’ van in Warracknabeal

Women over 50 in the northern Wimmera have a chance to have breast screens free of charge in Warracknabeal this month.
BreastScreen Victoria’s pink van ‘Nina’ will return to Warracknabeal from May 13 to 24 to provide the service as part of a preventative fight against cancer.
The van was last in Warracknabeal in 2017, and women who screened at the time will be due for their next screen.
Medical authorities urge women aged between 50 and 74 to undergo breast screening every two years. Screening is the best way to find breast cancer early, before symptoms arise and when treatment is most successful.
BreastScreen Victoria chief executive Vicki Pridmore said all breast screens were with a female radiographer in a friendly and safe environment.
In encouraging Warracknabeal district women to make the most of the visit, she said participants didn’t need a doctor’s referral or Medicare card and the test would take only 10 minutes.
The van will be outside Rural Northwest Health’s Warracknabeal campus at 18 Dimboola Road.
People can make appointments online at breastscreen.org.au or by calling 13 20 50.
