Wimmera Base Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary is encouraging more volunteers to join its fashion parade to help raise money for life-saving equipment.
Members raised more than $4500 at a parade in Horsham and presented Wimmera Health Care Group chief executive Catherine Morley a cheque for $40,000.
Auxiliary member Anne Stevens said the contribution was a credit to the hard work of volunteers and community support, and encouraged people with a little spare time to carry on the helping hand.
“The auxiliary ladies have been helping the hospital since 1925,” she said.
“In the past eight years we have raised $450,000.
“We would love new members. We are always looking for volunteers to help in the opportunity shop.”
Eight women modelled for the 150 people attending the event.
Mrs Stevens said money raised would go towards the purchase of heart monitors for Wimmera Base Hospital’s Yandilla children and maternity ward.
