Drivers urged to be extra vigilant during the floods

Roadsafe Wimmera executive director David Rule has warned drivers to be vigilant during the times of flood and storms. Mr Rule said it was imperative people drove to conditions and paid extra attention to possible hazards such as water and fallen trees. “During these times people need to be extra careful and drive according to the conditions,” he said. “Conditions can change at any time so you need to be aware of what is going on around you.” Mr Rule urged all drivers to look out for warnings and be aware of conditions before starting any journey. “You need to keep an ear out for any warnings that may affect any of your travels,” he said. “That means check out the Vicroads website or listen to your local radio and read your local newspapers to make sure the route you are taking is safe. “If you come across a journey that will be affected, we encourage you to go a different route or delay your journey.” For any information about road closures, visit the Vicroads website www.vicroads.com.au.
