Cancer unit chair donation

SPECIAL DELIVERY: Wimmera Health Care Group day oncology unit nurse Majella Hunter and chief executive Chris Scott test the chairs with Powercor’s Carley Gunn, Phil Stevenson and Dean Lakin.

Staff from Powercor in Horsham have donated two high-back adjustable-height chairs to Wimmera Health Care Group’s day oncology unit. The chairs were donated in memory of Linea Barber, who died earlier this year, and lobbied hard to get the unit up-and-running in Horsham more than 10 years ago. Powercor Horsham health and safety chairman Phil Stevenson said Linea’s husband Tim was a Powercor employee. “Our staff wanted to do something practical for the day oncology unit in memory of Linea,” Mr Stevenson said. “Linea was very passionate about having a chemotherapy service in Horsham and this is a way we can support a very worthy cause that was close to her heart,” he said. Oxley Nurse Unit manager Janette McCabe said Powercor bought the new chairs in response to patient feedback and were intended for the Arapiles building waiting area.
