Dogs and handlers will showcase many talents as the 81st annual Moyston Sheep Dog Trials begin today. Former Moyston resident Merylin Wallis and her border collies will be one one of many combinations chasing riches on offer during the trials. Trained at her Amphitheatre property, ‘Taddy Moor Leah’ imported from England and ‘Sullivan’ from New Zealand, are sure to enhance Merylin’s chances of bringing home a trophy. The Moyston Sheep Dog Club’s annual event is the longest running consecutive sheep dog tests in Victoria and will showcase Moyston’s farming heritage. Novice trials begin today, with other special features of this year’s event a night trial from 6pm tomorrow. Saturday’s trials are reserved for experienced competitors. The finals for the open trials will be on Saturday. Competition starts at 8am daily, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea available. For information call club president Max McLean on 5354 2568.
