The Australian Greens will have their first home-grown candidate in the seat of Mallee, with Ouyen-born business-woman Helen Healy set to contest the Federal seat at the August 21 election.

The Mildura-based events manager, pictured, said she decided to stand for the Greens after becoming disillusioned with the major parties.

Wannon

Allansford resident Robert O’Brien has added his name to a growing list of independent candidates in Wannon.

Mr O’Brien stood as an independent candidate in the 1998 and 2001 Federal and the 1999 Victorian elections.
