Callawadda shearer Aaron Hemley’s world-record attempt is building momentum. He plans to shear more than 800 sheep in 48 hours from August 19-21, to raise money for Stawell Hospital. Money raised will be donated to Stawell Oncology Unit, with more than $20,000 already raised in a quest for $200,000. Stawell Regional Health spokesperson Meg Blake said Aaron had put in hundreds of hours of work at Fitopia Gym in Stawell, working on his strength and stamina, preparing for the final shear where he is likely to burn more than 25.000 calories. Mrs Blake said Aaron required as much help and sponsorship as possible, with a special meeting at Stawell’s Gift Hotel on Friday night at 7pm. Donations for Aaron’s world record shearing attempt can also be made at Stawell Hospital, online at www.srh.org.au and many banks across the readership area. For information phone 5358 8513.
